A stunning play. Brilliant in the way it built up slowly, piling up suspense, brilliant in the lifestyle it portrays ..and the characters. And smashing in it's end. An astonishing work, because it lingers in your mind which means it's literally unforgettable"
Howard Bloom, Award winning Author

Your characters are wonderfully complex -- human, fragile because of the situation, out of control due to neurosis and cycle of friendship -- it was like watching a train wreck unfold"
Madeline Stephenson, writer, director
"I wanted to explore the effect of sexual assault from the female perspective, by not showing it as an event. I wanted my focus to be on the break downs and relations after: in the coping mechanisms (or lack of). Also, I wanted to consider and explore the non-credible victims. To somehow explore vulnerability within strength, and strength within vulnerability.

She writes on matters of gender and inclusivity as an expert for Backstage Magazine and as a published feature author for Louder Than War, and Bellacadonia in UK. As a known activist she has written essays on socio political agenda, has been "vociferous" lobbying for intersectionality.
Gender Inequality And Male Identity
Challenging The Patriarchy
She discusses her work and ideology with leading esteemed activists and writers as Birgitta Jónsdóttir, Noam Chomksy, Chris Hedges, Ben Wizner among others, featured in a new 2018 web series for News Voice. In this in-depth interview she discusses gender inequality, the dangers of feminism without intersectionality, diversity and inclusivity, ways to dismantle patriarchal structure, female content in the entertainment industry, and the children being our biggest hope.
Early writing career:
Between 2009 to 2014, Joanna self-published, under a pseudonym, semi-autobiographical diaries documenting her travels. It was picked up by her friend, writer and journalist, Innes Reekie (The Times, The Scotsman), (after a piece on Bedford-Stuyvesant in New York City, before gentrification of the area), who felt compelled to write a feature article on Joanna, published in John Robb's "Louder Than War" Magazine, and linking her work to the indie artist community. When it revealed her pen name the article was removed at her request. However, it had created a platform that gained her praise and encouragement for her intuitive "new beat" style from the literary industry.
Joanna has written lyrics for the song "Drop" aired on BBC 6 Music, and also "The Final Ending" played on East Village Radio, New York City. Joanna read her creative writing on Resonance FM "The Fall Of Babylon Show" which broadcast live on March 22nd 2013 in London.
"As a person who has worked in the world of books most of my life and spent all my 20s in NYC (I once worked at a women's shelter in Bed Stuyvesant around 1992) I just was compelled to say I loved this writing, it felt like a 2011 version of Just Kids, I want to read this book when it is done because it's surely underway."
Jane Darroch Riley, BBC London and Harper Collins, New York, Fiction Publisher
Joanna is part of a new breed of brave young writers and actors, unafraid of the world, alive to chance, and always ready to explore all possibilities.
Johny Brown, director and playwright, UK
"People often send me their writing as I'm an editor and I'm forever being enthusiastic and encouraging when things are really only okay - I tend to get over-excited if I detect the tiniest bit of potential, just so I don't discourage people. I wasn't prepared for Joanna's [story] being so fantastic. I hardly ever read someone who can paint the taste of something - darkness, and so forth - in words like that. It's a kind of New Beat, I think... anyway, thanks to her for letting us all read it."
Senior Editor, Pavilion Publishing
It is incredible writing, which amazingly has reminded me of Black-American writers like Charles Perry (Portrait of a Young Man Drowning) – they’ve both written wonderful accounts of living in Bedford Stuyvesant in Brooklyn. He died in 1969, but unwittingly it seems, she’s picked up that baton – to tell it how it is, no matter how bad it is, and no matter how desperate – someone needs to commentate, and Joanna has that capacity."
Innes Reekie, Writer and Journalist, The Times, The Scotsman (taken from Louder Than War article).
Joanna has an extraordinary gift for creative writing"
Katerina Georgiou, Editor Assistant, Zani Magazine, 2012
